Flourish Trading has been working over the past few months to source more planet-friendly products and offer an extended range of sustainable and biodegradable options for our customers.
These efforts will continue over the next few months as we strive to offer as many options as possible to promote green choices.
Neutral recyclable twine and raffia
Wrapping, tying and binding fresh or faux flowers is one relatively easy way to switch to a more planet friendly and recyclable choice.
This neutral twine and raffia is equally impressive around a colourful bouquet as non-sustainable options and around bio-degradable, recycled kraft paper. If you need a splash of colour, look to the coloured New Life recycled ribbon.

Wood slices and recycled wood products
Thinking more conscientiously about decorative choices and sustainability is also a wise choice for displays and decorations. Wood slices are untreated and come in various sizes. They can be used to elevate displays or for other visual merchandising or display purposes. We also stock various other wooden items, including wooden planters, wooden crates and birch pillars. It is important to keep in mind when recycling wood that depending on whether it is treated, untreated or painted it may need to be recycled differently.
Recycled and recyclable glassware
Recycled and recyclable glassware is high in demand and whilst all glass can be recycled we are extending our range of decorative recycled glass.
Glass that is sent to landfill can take up to a million years to break down. However it takes as little as 30 days for a recycled glass bottle to leave your recycling and appear on a store shelf as a new glass container. As glass is 100 percent recyclable it means it can be recycled repeatedly, again and again, with no loss in purity.
Over a ton of natural resources are saved for every ton of glass recycled, with one ton of carbon dioxide reduced for every six tons of recycled container glass used in the manufacturing process.
Bio foam
OASIS® Bio Floral Foam Maxlife’s new bio foam formulation is designed for modern landfills and attracts microbes that break the foam down into methane, CO2 and organic matter. Testing based on the American Society for Testing (ASTM) and Materials standards shows that OASIS® Floral Foam Maxlife will biodegrade 51.5 percent within 365 days in biologically active landfill conditions, while also keeping flowers fresh up to 50 percent longer than other floral foams. Testing is ongoing and as biodegradation rates continue.
