Halloween and Day of the Dead ideas for theming and fun!

We’re thinking of Halloween parties this week and seasonal autumnal colours with lots of orange and black. Our shelves are stocked with lots of ‘could be’ Halloween accessories and decorative items. It’s such a fun time of year, and sometimes the simplest flourish of colour is all you need to create a spooky vibe.

The obvious choice for Halloween theming is orange and black, and you really can’t go wrong. Products such as orange and black ribbons, and tissue are staples. If you don’t use them all up this year, then there is always next.

Flourish Trading always stocks a full variety of cellophanes and ribbons, but for Halloween it’s the oranges and blacks and the eleganza webbed ribbons that give a nod to cobwebs for All Hallow’s Eve.

We have mini pumpkins, autumnal foliage and plenty to decorate themed cakes and trick or treat costumes. It’s a time of year when your paper craft and creative skills can truly come into their own. In fact, it’s also the time of year where a bit of kitsch and a few tacky accessories go a long way.

Of course, at Flourish Trading we pride ourselves on high quality so you won’t find anything tacky here, but you can add that extra element of spook by getting creative with many of your regular sundries and stock. Orange or black tissue paper and cellophane, string, ribbon and gift flower boxes in Halloween colours are a fantastic touch.  Night light candles are  also in high demand for pumpkins and as the nights draw in.

All Hallows’ Eve, or Halloween, of course is swiftly followed by Day of the Dead on 2nd November, which is not the Mexican version of Halloween but a celebration of life, love and respect for deceased family members.

As it becomes more popular and is increasingly celebrated, we had to include it on our Halloween blog as it’s the perfect opportunity for silk flowers to form part of a colourful and exuberant Day of the Dead theme for instore displays, outfits or decorations for parties.
